Is a static shielding
bag the same as an anti-static bag?
It can be yes, and it can be no as well. Some
people regard static shielding bag as an anti-static bag; however, quite a good
count of people say that the anti-static bag is different and serves a whole
different purpose. A static shielding bag is made up of polyethylene
terephthalate (otherwise called as PET), which gives it a bubble-wrapped or
foamy-like finish. You will find these bags in only a limited number of colors
such as pink, grey/ silver, and black, providing a perfect faraday cage for the
enclosed product. The manufacturers in this industry might not offer you an
option to get a customized product because they do not have that option
available on them.
On the other hand, an anti-static bag might
not provide a perfect faraday cage for the enclosed item. They only prevent the
enclosed commodity from producing triboelectric charges when in contact with
individual insulators such as fabrics, plastic, hair, and likewise. They only
stop the occurrence chances of an ESD situation; thus, they are not a perfect
fit for the shipment of IC components and other electronic components. These
bags might be available to you in a wide variety of colors, including the range
of blue and metal.
